THREE ORPHAN KITTENS - The cycle of the cat and milk bottle became funnier and funnier and was topped by the second cat sneezing himself into the milk bottle. (Pfeiffer)

MOVING DAY - After the explosion which occurred at Pete's own hands we find Pete sprawled out in a bath tub suspended in mid air, yelling. A topper when shower squirts all over him as the picture ends. (Youngquist)

17. Running gag and series of gags aiming at one idea.

In LITTLE ELEPHANT the various methods attempted by Elmer to hide his trunk, or get rid of it. This planted the elephant's character, or at least his mood in the story, also situation was amusing to the spectator. (Landsman)

An example of a picture in which all the gags or series of gags aiming at one idea, build up picture is PLUTO'S JUDGEMENT DAY. After Pluto got into Catland and was being tried by the jury, all the gags aimed at his punishment. The revolving door for the jury was one of the biggest laughs in the picture. It was humorously pathetic the way Pluto never had a chance. (Brightman)

18. Establishing and building character by gags.

MOVING DAY - Pete's rough, unscrupulous and bullying character was well established by a single gag, i.e. one where he scratched his match on the duck's bill and then lighted his cigar. (Brightman)

Goof's personality is shown by gags showing his dumbness in FIRE BRIGADE and SERVICE STATION.

Duck's personality is shown by gags which generally boomerang on him, revealing his temper (bees in ORPHAN'S PICNIC) flames in FIRE BRIGADE. (Penner)

19. Importance of planting.
